Re: day skipper exmination
I though of chartering given the good sailing weath we are having on the Clyde just now, but they all ask for proof of experience//certification, I've got no quals and I've never had the slightest problem chartering in Scotland on the South Coast or abroad. Loch Fyne Cruisers, Tarbert
Does anyone remember "Loch Fyne Cruisers", Tarbert and/or know what happened to them? No special reason for asking, just wondering.

The YBW attack is starting to look a bit personal. Who's been banned recently? I did wonder if it was the Jermain Catamaran ramming guy or the sea horse guy, but I doubt it. FWIW I'd have prefered to have heard "Jermain Catamaran ramming guy's" side of the story before his name was plaste...

I really don't see the need for sticky threads. While the topic's popular it will remain at the top. It only needs to be sticky when interest drifts away - at which point it shouldn't be sticky.

ISTR a folk song that featured the following lyric snippets: "they laid him in the old toll booth, Queen Mary was not sorry." "it may be he lived so well his heart could not support him" "this night he'll lie in ???????? with no mark on his body" That is all I can remem...

decorated on the Somme God bless him for doing so. The last thing you want when you're being machine gunned at all day is to have to go back to a dreary house with out of date wallpaper. If it wasn't for Tillman's work on the Somme and Lt Col Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen's work in Yypres WW1 would have ...

Agree. I had to do a double take when I heard that. JG's fate was sad but not really something for the PM to spend brain power on.Nick wrote:The tin lid for me was GB's pathetic need to jump on the Jade Goody bandwagon.

This american blogger is a damned right wing facsist shock jock, well known over the water for his repugnant and racist views. Here we go again, PC crowd trying to tell us what we have the freedom of choice to watch/read/ listen to. I agree. I haven't read the blog but if Nick chose it I imagine it...

Re: I lost my job... so I'm off sailing
As I am about to be unemployed, (recent victim of the economic downturn!) I've decided to bring forward my long term plan to get away from the rat race and go cruising. Respect, I think you've got the right idea. If I get the chop in early '09 I hope I'll have the nerve to splash out on a 4 week si...
