Jings! Well, I met him briefly a couple of years ago; wouldn't have thought him a day over 70 or so. Happy Birthday, Jim.

Thanks you all. The fact is, I feel 82. However, to be chronologically correct, I am 52. And still dont lokk a day over 70.
I spent my birthday having a lovely sail, and splitting the genoa asunder in 5 places.Oops.

Commiserations. Five places is a bit extreme though - racing, or just lousy weather? Either way, a bummer. Hope it's fixable.

Just the UV strip I believe but don't open any other posts on the East Coast Forum since they are being spammed with some paticularly horrible porn atm - seriously.

Seems to be a major attack on all the forums now with stolen mod/admin access and multiple user ID's.

Hmmm. We've also had to get ours repaired again (just done last year) - the strong winds in early part of the season put too much strain on it.
BTW, there is some really disgusting stuff there on YBW. Bloody awful.
EDIT: Sorry, I didn't mean YBW is awful - it's the cyber attack that stinks. Not nice.

I'm still sticking spinnaker repair tape on mine but it's getting to the silly stage now.
The YBW attack is starting to look a bit personal. Who's been banned recently?

Its not got a UV Strip, its got a UV treated area - on one side only. Thats what is dropping to bits.
The sailmaker is going to slice 10% off the genoa and reinforce a whole new leech. So my 140% becomes 130%.

Would I be right in thinking that you wouldn't recommend a UV treated area over a UV strip to anyone who might be specifying a new sail at the moment?

Ermm, no, because its cheap and nasty, as I always knew the OEM Elvstrom sails are.
They also stretch like buggery too. Bear in mind,I tore the main in the 1st season!

I did wonder if it was the Jermain Catamaran ramming guy or the sea horse guy, but I doubt it. FWIW I'd have prefered to have heard "Jermain Catamaran ramming guy's" side of the story before his name was plastered on blogs and on the main site as 'news'.
