I'm liking this idea. Silkie and Shard both did a wee sail to Oban for the pre-cruise drinkies last year and it felt like we'd added an extra day on to the event.

Shard is only planning on arriving in the area on the Thursday so it would (presumably) make sense for them to stop there too.

Melfort VBs

Post by DaveS »

My reasoning for suggesting L Melford Hotel was two fold:

(a) It's close to Craobh, which suits my lateish arrival, but

(b) Craobh, as you know, charges visitors berthing fees, which I thought could be better spent on drink...

If it's blowing a hooley, of course, Craobh remains an option.

Nah - they need something to cheer them up - believe the ice has begun to break up though
Penguins still in Kilmelford - probably heading north to Dallens Bay later in the month

My things are fine, how about yourself?

Engine in and fired up. Very pleased with myself. Just to fit the new Gori, wet and dry the antifouling apply new stuff, polish hull and pop her in the water. I'm bl00dy exhausted.

Had a day off on saturday - went skiing in the morning at Bearsden then a bonspiel in the afternoon

Colin, Moira(aka The Siglets) Sheena and I (The Ajas) -V- Jim & Christine (The Bonspiels) and Ian & Mags (The Be Happys).

We won!

Then on for a curry and boaty chat - really good day.

Oh..... given up the fags.......

Fair stands the wind in Denmark I think - the bump is progressing without glitches.

Found a leak on the water pump so thats being swapped, Found we have a fin partially missing on the impeller which is a bit of a concern.

Wiring being worked on this weekend - just a tidy up and a bit of re-routing. 2 weeks off over easter and herself in Russia so the boat will take priority for me.

Good news from acrros the sea.

Not so good news about the missing blade..... have you had a poke about for it?

Sheena is away to Rotterdam end March/beginning April so i will try and hammer on with the rest of the stuff and hope to launch during Easter week allbeing well.

Keep up the good work.

Last couple of visits have been wash-outs but I've got a 4 day pass starting Thursday and the forecast looks hopeful. Need to finish the topsides, repair last year's little ding in the forefoot and slap on the free anti-fouling as a minimum.

Launch Day Fixed

Post by Aja »

I'm going in on the late tide on Tuesday 11th April.

With all the work done this close-season I'm a bit apprehensive about all of this....

New stern gland assembly
New 'Stripper' bearings
New Gori porp
New engine & gearbox
New rigging
New (to us) Mainsail
New (to us) sail cover
New cooker.

OK. Its been a bit of a money pit this year, but if I've connected everything up correctly I should n't have any future worries ....

.... should I?

New stuff

Post by Nick »

New stuff is there to STOP you worrying, Donald. At least, that is what Kathy tells me every time I fret about our Volvo sternseal running too hot or some such . . .

The new Beta in Fairwinds has been fantastic, and esential - I doubt if we would have ventured further than Ireland or the Scillies without it.

New sails are great as well . . . you are going to have a wonderful season.

Even so...

Post by Aja »

It's done.

Just the antifouling, polishing and cleaning to do and that'll be it.

I'm sure everything will be just fine. Will just have to wait the three weeks 'till launch to find out :(

On the upside. It will get warmer. Won't it!!!
