Re: Millport Bay
I don't know if that bay was ever clean, I've never anchored in it. I've watched a few boats lift anchor, and they've all brought up weed. Someone with a fish finder type sounder told me that as well as weed, much of the bottom is a thin layer over rock. I use Kames Bay ( East bay ) to anchor when t...

Re: Variable Pitch Props and Shaft Brakes
Hi Alistair I inherited a Brunton Autoprop with the boat and find that there are some aspects of it I don't like. I'm on the boat with just an old phone so will tell you more over the weekend. Certainly, you would need to stop the shaft to get it to fold. With a mechanical gearbox, the technique is ...

Re: Help understanding my Annual Tax Summary (OT)
I recently received the Notice of Coding for next year's Income Tax. All very understandable. In a commendably economical move, HMRC included in the same envelope my Annual Tax Summary for 2017-18. That's where the problem lies in a trivial yet annoying way. I understand that ScotGov is setting Sco...

Whoopiedoo - its have a pop at Claymore time Shirley not. I thought that Cleit Rock already had a perch. It's the unseen " Claymore 's Rock " that needs a marker. It would be pretty hard to hit Cleit Rock, the bow wave around it seems to push you clear. Ash, says the veteran of only 3 tra...

If you have a look around HGV fuel pumps, you will likely see discarded 20 litre square shaped plastic containers. They used to contain AdBlu. They might be a bit thin skinned for your purpose, but worth a look if you want cheap. Cheers Ash Apologies, after further thought, the capacity might be 10...

Re: Review of 2018
2018 was a good sailing year for us, we spent over 70 nights on board. Some of these nights were simply spent at our home berth, but that isn't a great hardship on a walk ashore pontoon in Tarbert, Loch Fyne. Our main summer break in July and August was 7 weeks long, but we left Kylora on a mooring ...

Just had a look round Darrens WWW site, the listing for Chimera in the "for sale" bit, has a pic of an Ecume De Mer as the banner pic. The rest look like pics of Chimera. The Ecume, Silver Lining, used to be owned by a friend / work colleague. You met him on the pontoon at TV this summer....

I was organised enough to keep the bit of plastic straw in the cardboard box in beside the tube of blue grease, and use the same one year after year.marisca wrote:Now they are trying to stop me lubricating my Vulva stern gland by advocating the banning of plastic straws.
