Fairwinds is an Albin Vega sail no. 1842, designed by Per Brohall and built in 1973 by Albin Marin AB of Sweden.

Although designed as a family cruiser/racer and of light displacement, the Vega has proven herself to be a very seaworthy yacht, with many bluewater voyages to her credit.
Fairwinds still has the original Volvo MD6A engine with Combi variable pitch prop and dynastart. She is fitted with Sailspar continuous line roller reefing and slab reefing on the boom.
Equipment purchased/fitted in 2004 prior to her trip round Ireland included a third reef point in the main, Simrad TP10 tiller pilot, Seago 4-man valise liferaft and a Yamaha 2HP outboard for the elederly Avon Redcrest.
