North Ayrshire Moorings

Post by marisca »

May I offer http://www.setsail-northayrshire.co.uk/ ... g-payment/ to the forum for its delectation?
I do love "The moorings are free for visitors to use, however we would appreciate a small donation to go towards their maintenance - £5 for a day visit and £10 for an overnight stay."
The Lottery Fund chipped in £120k and the coonty cooncil £20k - down before Easter, up in October.

just followed the link and am a bit confused by the following wording -

"The moorings are free for visitors to use, however we would appreciate a small donation to go towards their maintenance - £5 for a day visit and £10 for an overnight stay. You’ll find Honesty Boxes ashore for cash donations."

Surely it should be 'donation boxes'? Does the use of the description honesty box not imply that you are being trusted to put money in the box that you are required to pay?

I'm also a bit confused by the free part because I know there are people getting "trained" to go out in a boat and collect the mooring fees at Cumbrae. It should be interesting to see how it all goes.

Welcome Anchorages 2016 show 12 proposed moorings to the west of the existing / usual visitors moorings and another 6 proposed moorings to the east.

This is in Millport Bay.

Was in Millport last Friday and the new moorings are there complete with pickups.

The older moorings didn't have pickups, just a shackle on top to feed a rope through.
Seminole.
Cheers Bob.
