Bulk purchasing power mk III- tinned cable
I'm looking at rewiring the cabin lighting and it seems Furneaux Riddel are the people to go to for good quality low voltage tinned 2-core cable. It gets significantly cheaper in 100m reels, which is much more than I would expect to use myself, so just throwing this out there in case anybody would like to split the cost.

Might get away with 1.5mm2 (£60/roll) but could perhaps be a good idea to go up to 2.5mm2 (£90/roll)- need to add up my amps I think.
Re: Bulk purchasing power mk III- tinned cable
I would prefer the 2.5 mm2 if you want to share a real. I am based near Edinburgh so logistics could be easy.

Depending on how much you two gentlemen require I would be happy to take a third of a reel of 2.5mm in white ideally but not fussy really. I suspect my need is actually a bit less than 33m (so could negotiate over the split if needs be) but I seem to have temporarily mislaid my detailed calculations.

OK I think a 3-way split could work. A bit of pass-the-parcel might be involved.
I will do look into this in a few days - rather tied with the arrival of a new crew member hence being up at 2am... I am told things do get easier... Blurgh...

It does get better, then they turn into teenagers, then you get used to that, then they leave and you get really down about it after 18 or so years of it all. It is so worth it though.Mavanier wrote:OK I think a 3-way split could work. A bit of pass-the-parcel might be involved.

If you are really fortunate, you might get them interested in sailing at some point, preferably through dinghy racing, so they end up competent, and will helm without frights.. Preferably without an excess of Scottish series/WHW - where they crew with people on yachts without budgets! That can be a bit scary on the "can I use the boat for XXX in August or ??" front

I'm getting close to my need date and wonder if anyone has progressed this any further. I'm happy to be the purchaser - given cast-iron guarantees of participation.

PM Sent with email address, I am up for half of 2.5 mm2 if you fancy. Can make bank transfer if you want.

Ah where does the time go.
I did enquire about getting a reel but they wanted £17 postage which seemed a wee bit steep for a £95 order. Will it work out more cost effective if the reel progresses gradually northwards as bits get chopped off?
33m would do me fine, by the way.
