Yachting TV

Post by Silkie »

The trailer for this looked interesting so I bookmarked it and forgot about it. The first issue of Yachting TV is up now and I like it though I didn't find any of the items particularly rivetting (damned with faint praise.)

James Jermain's review of the big Bavaria treads a careful line, the Dee Caffari interview is a bit pedestrian and Tom Cunliffe seems to get his port and starboard mixed up at one point. But for all that it's 47 minutes more sailing content than you'll get on the Beeb in an average month.

Good effort and I'm looking forward to next month. I wonder when they'll want to start charging?

How does one access this televisual channel? It takes me a while to warm up the valves on my rediffusion 425 lines set so I need some notice.

I just watched episode 9, the boat show looked a bit lame but the thing on servicing lifejackets was about as good as a training video. I thought it was usefull, I'm off to unscrew me air bottles, I've never done that before.

As the lady from Lancashire said, Where is it to be found on my dial? Somewhere between Athlone and Hilversum, or is it extra-terrestial?

The Internet eh? I must see what that differential machine with the Jacquard Loom punched cards additional memory is up to these days.

Just as long as the skipper doesn't notice I've packed it in my 'Unctions' container.

persevering... it doesn't seem to buffer, so it stutters a lot.

Use the same technique as for Youtube if it won't play smoothly. Turn the sound down and do something else while it downloads. The replay will be fine.

Episode 9

Post by Gordonmc »

I was dis-chuffed with the latest episode which only had two features: one on the long distant-in-memory Earls Court boat show and the life-jacket feature.
The latter could have been a useful prompt, but it was full of repetition.
Nothing on handling skills, no pilotage, no boat tests.
Hopefully this was a filler edition and the interesting stuff will appear in the next one.
