Red diesel in Tarbert Loch Fyne.
If you are thinking of getting diesel in Tarbert, don't count on it. Being a bit low on the red stuff but not wanting to shift the boat to the pier, I rowed over in the Redcrest with a five gallon can. The forklift driver (who seemd to be the designated dispenser of fuel) told me that he was "short of diesel and had two fishing boats to fill up." I mentioned this to the staff at the pontoons office and got the impression that this situation was common.

A couple of weeks ago I was told that they no longer sold diesel. A tanker comes to fill the fishing boats up.
I had to go to Crinan for some, but that's a long row.

I guess Portavadie fuel berth may reap the benefits from this....
I've Emailed Tarbert to see if they will clarify the situation or at least alter their blurb to reflect reality.

Did you know that Tarbert is an anagram of "too far up their own backsides"? I rarely go there now, it lost its appeal to me long ago.

Reply from Peter Bates, the (pontoon)harbourmaster, acknowledges the problem the co-operative are having sourcing/storing enough fuel and the way it is prioritised, and are currently trying to work on a solution to give a better service to the leisure boats.
