Cruiser's name?

Post by Clyde_Wanderer »

Anyone know the name of the big wooden cruiser which appears to be based at Holy loch marina, usually alongside the long breakwater pontoon?
She takes folk about the Clyde on pleasure cruises, she was anchored in Kames bay Millport last night and left this morning looking as if she was headed for Arran.

Goggle for The Majestic Line.

Think they are Glen Massan and Glen Tarsan

Thought it sounded familiar

From the website

The name ‘The Majestic Line' is inspired by the famous 1960's "Para Handy" TV sitcom, from the stories by Neil Munro, which were located in the Clyde.  The relevant episode tells of the "Vital Spark" ships engineer, McPhail who, having walked out of his job, claimed to have signed on a ship of ‘The Majestic Line' (which he even claimed had a gold funnel) sailing to Rome, to hide the fact he could not find another position. (The Glen Massan and The Glen Tarsan have gold painted funnels).

It took me a couple of years to figure that there were two of these.
Saw one near Arran one year, then a day later somewhere else, then ... and so on. But it wasn't the same one each time, and I'd not looked carefully enough.
Thought at the time that they must do some miles!

Thanks for that Bill, enjoyable.
At least RLS had a view of the Torrons, dont think I caught a glimpse of any of them as I cautiously navigated through them!
