I can't get the one above. Nice pix, but can't place it.
Can only add an easier one...

Sunset, west coast.

The lack of success amongst the BM community to identify my "where from where to?" tempts me to put it on TOP

Go for it Paul. If you want that pack of rabid dogs to ignore you as well.

I think it's from and to somewhere between Dumbarton and Stornoway.

mm5aho's is probably the pool of the otter.

Wild guess - Ailsa Craig?

Ash

Maybe not - it should have an 18m lighthouse - unless it's looking due east at Ailsa Craig.

So, Ailsa Craig at midnight - we just need an estimated boat speed and start working back and forward from there.

As regards Ocklepoints pics.
I reckon you left the upper Clyde (maybe after the Crinnan canal) left Inchmarnoch to port and slid down east of Arran then down past Mull of Galloway heading south?
Any of it correct?

Some of it.

Heading south from Bowling to Peel, IoM, by by way of the Hunterston Channel

The first photo was of Arran from the SE as the sun went down, then Ailsa Craig from the east in very low light conditions and then, from the west, the sun coming up over the Mull of Galloway, all at about 5knots on a short midsummerish night.
