Oban to Inverness via CC - Stops
Oban to Inverness via CC - Stops
Youngest has agreed to join us on condition she has access to decent showers off the boat at overnight stops. Any recommendations for stops? Plan to make it a very leisurely family holiday!

She could have a bath at Dunstaffnage.
Milford Haven is surely very much the long way round going from Oban to Inverness?

The Haven of the Milfords is a long way if you were setting off from Oban to the Mouth of the Ness, however, wee Jamesie isn't.

Aye but the plan is tae be in Oban afore the youngest joins us! Leaisurely family holiday fae Oban tae Inverness but big sans family tris fae Falmouth to Oban via Belfast probably... and then long sail fae Inverness tae Ipswich or suchlike.
Re: Oban to Inverness via CC - Stops
There's shower blocks along the length of the canal at most of the locks, some of them are quite nice, even suitable for the younger female members of society.
My daughter's coming sailing with me over the weekend, showers were the first thing she asked about. I told her a wee fib...

Indeed - but that wasn't the bit he was asking about. If I was leaving from Oban I wouldn't stop at Dunstaffnage either, bath or no, but why should I let that stop me from posting - factualities rarely seem to be allowed to interfere with your pensees.claymore wrote:Silkingtons

A short hop maybe from oban, put the pierhouse hotel at port appin has moorings , and a sauna & shower setup available to yachts visiting that may be very cheering on a cold trip north.

The Silken one is of a multinational persuasion and has strong connections with Malmo. Penses is Swench for thoughts. The silken one is a delicate chap, highly sensitive a mostly very polite - he woild not wish to have it considered on the WWW that he had been talking aboot ma willie.

It could be yon Silkie lad is a Harry Potter fan ?
Claymore:
"I use the Pensieve. One simply siphons the excess thoughts from one's mind, pours them into the basin, and examines them at one's leisure. It becomes easier to spot patterns and links, you understand, when they are in this form."
Silkie: "You mean... that stuff's your thoughts?"
Claymore: "Certainly."

.
If I may be allowed a brief return to reality . . .
The Caley Canal has toilet and shower blocks at strategic intervals. The ones in Fort Augustus are particularly good.
Jimi, if you have time in Belfast do the Titanic thing. We were down the graving dock, in the pump house and in the big new exhibition today - a great day out.
