Can anyone help? Our yacht is on her pontoon at Craobh marina. I am based in Leeds so its a not easy to organise. Fridge fan runs but the compressor is not kicking in.Probably needs regassing? Can anyone help or put me in touch with a refrigeration engineer before we set off from sunny Yorkshire this weekend.
Thanks.

Re: Fridge not working
contact Forteith Food services in Oban. They have refrigeration engineers and although not a "marine" company, as the proprietors sail, they may help you. If they can't help, they may know someone who can

Re: Fridge not working
A 12V fridge will behave like this if the voltage is too low: the fan is 12V, the compressor 230V AC supplied by an inverter. Mine behaved exactly as you describe a few weeks ago when the main battery switch was left open leaving the fridge supplied from an auxiliary battery via a long cable. A high resistance joint would be a more usual cause: the initial current spike as the compressor starts (or tries to start) causes sufficient volt drop to bring the terminal voltage below that (11V IIRC) at which the inverter shuts down. Have you checked the voltage at the fridge supply terminals?
I would not have thought it's lack of gas since that would not stop the compressor running.
I mean to be at Craobh this weekend and could have a quick look at it if that would help.
