Faroe Pilot/charts wanted
Anybody got an up to date Faroe pilot that they would be willing to part with? Any charts of the area would also be of interest.

We have an ancient pilot and charts of a similar vintage. We are half thinking of going this Summer, though no firm plans. Perhaps a cruise in company?Mavanier wrote:Anybody got an up to date Faroe pilot that they would be willing to part with? Any charts of the area would also be of interest.

Does the pilot make it sound worth the trip? I'm not sure yet how our summer will pan out but if given the chance we'd be aiming for a June trip, for best chance of unterrible weather.Nick wrote:We have an ancient pilot and charts of a similar vintage. I have the free download of the American pilot. I'm not at home currently, though, so can't access the details. Shard may be able to help - ISTR that he posted access details some time ago.

A free download sounds useful.DaveS wrote:I have the free download of the American pilot. I'm not at home currently, though, so can't access the details. Shard may be able to help - ISTR that he posted access details some time ago.
I've been surprised how little info is out on the web about yachting in Faroe- I haven't come across any blogs or anything. I wonder if there's a reason nobody seems to go there...

The US National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) Sailing Directions for Scotland include the Foroyar (Faeroe Islands) at http://msi.nga.mil/MSISiteContent/StaticFiles/NAV_PUBS/SD/Pub141/Pub141bk.pdf.DaveS wrote:I have the free download of the American pilot. You can then just print off the chapter you want. There's also a Faeroese booklet that describe the complicated tides and current - it's in the web somewhere but I don't have a URL.

OK I will rephrase... not much chat on the forums about Faroe. Most of the google hits tend to be about trips on tourist boats, tall ships, etc, but there are one or two blogs in there too. Still surprisingly little, I think.Nick wrote:Let me Google that for youMavanier wrote:
