As Hurricanes Igor and Julia continue to ply their trade off the east coast of the United States of America, it seems the Atlantic is in no mood for settling down.
Another area of cloud is now being highlighted west of the Cape Verde Islands and is giving off all the signs of development into a major hurricane (see the red area circled below). One model shows this as hitting Florida late next week. And that area is not on its own either, because there are more zones of cloud which are stretching across the Atlantic with each of them having the potential to development into something significant.
The National Hurricane Centre issue regular updates at http://www.nhc.noaa.gov" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and this is well worth while keeping an eye on (excuse the pun!).
Hope that’s of interest.
