Don't know what came over me. I had intended to write that I'd noticed that Wikipedia reckons that the mainland of Scotland has 9,911 km (6,158 mi) of coastline. Is that better?

Surely the length of the coastline is entirely dependant on the resolution you measure it at. (Fractals or somesuch.)
