Can i “reinstal” my Garmin 12?It seems to be in reduced mode???

Help:My Garmin 12 starts normaly then within seconds the screen reduces in size by about 2mm on all sides & turns a muddy light brown.I have a message press page where see “all data has been lost”searching sky That might be becouse i took the batterys out & left it for some days in the hope of a normal start.(after several days of restarting in the hope all would be well, i removed batterys for an hour then day, week&now month)

Although the screen is far less easy to read seeming lost some transreflectability it will give my possition BUT i cant add any new waypoints i can change existing ones.It also no longer recognises my 12v/data cable will only run on AA batterys

It first happend while waiting for the tide, relaxed & ready to go, i picked up the Garmin 12 went to set up looked at settings then found “Demo” i d never tried it so i went into demo mode used the demo then went back into “normal mode”It seemed to be working normaly i shut it down & picked up a book waiting for the tide,i only had a short way to go down river.

A few days later, a weekend regatta, i started my Garmin 12 found it working but in “reduced” mode??What can be the matter with it what can i do to get it back into normal service???I call it “redused mode” as its simular to a laptop which starts in F10 then safe mode where the screen is far less clear.

Im still on the canals though not for much longer as there was snow on deck today!

Have you tried powering it on while pressing one of the other keys?
My wee garmin handheld (can't remember the model number) had some options.
I think it was the keys down the right hand side that worked, giving screen diagnostic, reset, and a special satellite aquisition scan.

Bon chance
