We are supposed to be embarking for a two week (or longer) cruise beginning Thursday. I have just looked at Magic Seaweed and the wind seems to be mostly F5-6 S or SW for the forseeable future. Original thoughts were Gigha, Islay, Rathlin then into the Clyde but there are obvious drawbacks to this plan.
South? North? Stay at home? Will the weather be better in September?
Suggestions for a late Summer cruise
Re: Suggestions for a late Summer cruise
September on the West Coast of Scotland usually brings glorious weather.
I would suggest a cruise over to N. Ireland with a wee diversion to IoM.
Have fun!

In the interests of accuracy I would substitute 'can sometimes' for 'usually'.September on the West Coast of Scotland usually brings glorious weather.
Perusing Magic Seaweed the North Channel and Irish Sea are not looking very attractive over the next five days, but perhaps we will have an Indian Summer after that. (More monsoons perhaps)
What we need is the redefinition of F7 as a pleasant wee sailing breeze.

Personally, I have given up and will be off to the sun for 10 days in a week or so, now we are trying to decide between Cape Verde and Antigua in February, next year must be better surely.
I will not stay young forever but, I can be immature for the rest of my day's!

Now that my pert bottom is once more ensconced in the Big Chair at Work, might I offer you my absolute assurance that the weather will now become glorious until Friday 23rd October when it will turn inclement for a period of about a week.
I would therefore recommend the circumcision of every bit of land between Lewis and Barra.

To say nothing of equinoctial gales.Nick wrote:In the interests of accuracy I would substitute 'can sometimes' for 'usually'.September on the West Coast of Scotland usually brings glorious weather.
The weather looks moderately terrible until next week. My plans mean that I'll probably arrive at the boat on Thursday evening at about the same time as a southerly gale.

We're also sitting waiting for the weather to ease a bit, with the intention of going upriver for the Indian summer.
Please post a general warning when it's on it's way.
Thanks in anticipation,
