.
Our 2hp Yam has bitten the dust - not pumping water but can't drop the gearbox to sort it.
Stayed in tonight to watch and hopefully purchase an identical motor from Ebay. Item was described as being from the 90s but stored and only test run once a year. It went for £231 + £20 p&p
That's over half the price of a new 4-stroke.
Are they mad??
And - has anyone got a redundant 2hp 2-stroke?

.
I think the gearbox splines are seized into the engine.
If Tojo of The Boat Store in Oban can't get it apart after several hours it is almost certainly a lost cause.

Re: Outrageous outboard
To drop the gearbox you need to remove the gear on the bottom of the drive shaft (remove circlip and shims). The driveshaft is tapered thicker at the top and won't pass through the pump housing.
If you can't get the whole leg off (including drive shaft) then the squared bayonet type fitting at head maybe siezed - but this is unlikely.
You don't need to remove whole leg, just the gearbox to change impellor.
