Re: Cruising on a yacht around Suffolk ...
Nice description of the pleasures of cruising.
"So I welcomed the opportunity to sail a boat for nothing other than the joy of sailing. After all, this is what most sailors do. They go down to their boats, stock them up with supplies, cast off on the tide and sail where they please."

The ready provisioning is as Full Circle, also the use of the tides.Shard wrote:... with a brewer.
Come with me, I am a Pi$$ artist.
We are planning our holiday to include Southwold this year, probably for 2 or 3 days to get over the brewery tour. Then North until we run out if time.

Don't suppose you'll get as far north as Peterhead, but if you do, I'll buy you a beer or three.FullCircle wrote:.

I might make it to Grimsby.....
Is Bond Helicopters still operating out of Longside?
I've stayed In Peterhead a few times in the 80s,and was even breathalysed (negative, to their shock) there.
I would like to tour the Buchan coast again, and if I do, I will be there to collect on the pint, cheers.
Far ye de'in, ma Loon?

I don't know if there is much, or indeed any helicopter traffic at Longside these days. I'm sure most of them now fly direct from Aberdeen.
I remember a few trips I did up to the East Shetland basin, flying from Aberdeen and stopping off at Longside to top up the fuel. It never seemed worth it to me, but there must have been some advantage.
Bond still fly from Aberdeen along with Bristows and CHC Scotia.
