Alba Sailing
Used the chandlery yesterday for the first time since Terry and Jackie sold the business to David & Julie earlier this year.
It's a long story but the upshot is that David drilled and tapped my gooseneck fitting to accept his bronze coachbolt which was also modified by him in his workshop, for £2, which was the price of the bolt.
Me, "So you're not going to charge for the work you've done?"
He, "I wouldn't dream of it."
Me, "I'm glad to see the finest traditions of Alba Sailing are being maintained despite the change of ownership."
Alba Sailing
Serious plug for a business with which I have no connection except as a very happy customer.

I must agree,
Dave certainly does seem a thoroughly helpful guy. I am in the process of purchasing "Rosally" (Westerly Storm from the charter fleet) and though the purchase is through the previous owner of Alba, Terry Saunders, Dave has been no end of help. He'll certainly be getting my business in the future.

Where are you going to moor Rosally? Silkie will be on the hard at Dunstaffnage this winter and probably afloat there next season too unless I can come up with an affordable berth near Largs.
Thanks for the kind words about Silkie. She is indeed a fine wee ship - and a looker too.

Any excuse...

She's on the hard at Dunstaffnage for the winter - still undecided about where she'll be after April though. I'm based up in Aberdeen but as you know, the West Coast is far superior sailing wise.
I'm hoping to be down this coming weekend to get started on a few jobs so will probably stay at "the Frog".

If you review the thread you will see it is Silkie who is threatening to decamp to the Clyde. He will be on Loch Lomond next . . .
