Post by trouville »

Rigs both amature and marine are offten sold with the transmit restricted to either amature or marine bands

Some have a wire that has to be cut allowing TX from 160m through 10/6m

Other more proffessional types JVC, Ten tec for example have a code to type in such as “funcionâ€Â

According to some bumph in my computer:
quote{
On the ICOM M-700 marine transceiver, the sets are already capable of
working on ham radio frequencies. Despite what the literature says, no
lock-out is employed because the factory already did their diode trick.
Simply punch in the frequencies and you're on the air. Remember, any
ham frequency on 40, 80, or 160 meters requires the mode switch to be
put to the hard left positions of "A3," which enables the lower sideband
filter. All other frequencies to include all marine frequencies are
upper sideband--including those marine frequencies at 2, 4, 6, and 8
MHz. All marine is upper sideband.}unquote
If that isn't true for your set. I can look in other places. good luck.(edit) have a firkle here:http://www.ham.dmz.ro/icom/ You may find a similar model.

Thanks for that.

When i key in the TX frequency say 14303 it shows error RX is ok but not TX outside the marine bands 2megs to 2.999megs 4megs to 4.999megs etcif i try 3750 error

Its a great rig if i had enough battery power it can put out 150w great for QSO but i mainly use data as that works well with 30w to 40w or less and it dosnt drift

Im looking at other rigs but i cant quite manage one yet the newer amateur rigs are also very stable
