Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves

Post by claymore »

Bearing in mind that I felt compelled never to darken the doorstep of shufflebutt ever again, following a spat which really was the straw that broke this particular camel's back - well, at least gave me the raging hump. - It concerns me that increasingly others are following. Whilst I am reasonably happy so far - perhaps with the exception of old Nolegs, it seems to me only a matter of time before I may have to look for other quarters in which to post my often quite brilliant observations.
Do you think we should now have a selection panel for prospective members in order that the loss of my ready wit, banter and badinage might remain safe on this channel?
Regards

Fir point - and I could be joining you - so amend the minute to read
"A panel to vet pospective members"
this means that the drawbridge is now firmly pulled up with us inside the keep
Job for life.

Was it something I said? I 'm not known for a perfect track record in tact and diplomacy. (It's the little bit of Yorkshire in me)

Garn, yer boring old scrote. Should've bin slung out of Scuttlebutt before you did the decent thing & ran away. Afraid your sins will catch you up?

 Only teasing, of course! However, I doubt that there would be similar problems here as the moderator/owner is a regular reader/ contributor. I suspect that any shennanegans will be nipped in the bud pretty sharpish.

Yer miserable old git, I assume that's me your talking about. I had hoped you'd joined some Scottish academia forum. Instead i find I've got to put up yet again with yer incomprehensible ramblings. I pity your lovely dear heart, such a gorgeous lady deserves better :P

Some fora have an 'ignore list' which you can use to screen out postings from undesirables. I can't see it here. Having said that, I've never seen a forum that didn't have fights, some people, it seems, just love winding others up. I think it appeals to them that they can do and say things on a forum that they wouldn't if they met you in a pub.

I see the problem as theirs, not mine.

The trouble with an ignore button is not everyone uses it. It is funny watching one half of a spat when you have only blocked one of the combatants. I'm too nosey and want to see what's going on to get the full flavour so end up leaving the block button alone.
Seminole.
Cheers Bob.

Some fora have a spell checker, too.
