I have found that in the past few weeks I now rarely get the little orange coloured symbol showing that a thread has unread posts. I'm sure this is a problem at my end rather than with the forum, that it has probably been covered before, and there's a well known fix involving resetting or clearing something, but I don't know how to. Can anyone help?
Also, which may or may not be related, I have a tendency to get an error message reading:
Invalid Session. Please resubmit the form.
when I try to post. Any thoughts?

Problems
Not according to what it says on the screen: a log out choice is shown at the top of the page, and at the bottom of the index page I am shown as one of the registered users viewing the forum.
I did, however, think that it might be something to do with the log in, and tried to log out then back in again but, presumably since I'd previously told it to remember me, I couldn't seem to get it to log off. Instead I got the same "invalid session" error as when trying to post. Closing and re-opening my site access didn't seem to do anything useful either.
It's intermittent. Currently everything's fine; a couple of hours ago I could get no joy at all.

Re: Unread items flag
I've never tried using the orange flags. When I log in I use the View posts since last visit clicky. I can click again at any time and it will have updated if any posts (including my own) have been added.DaveS wrote:I have found that in the past few weeks I now rarely get the little orange coloured symbol showing that a thread has unread posts.
I don't ask forums to 'remember me' or allow my machine to remember my passwords so I'm doing a full log in each time. I use CC Cleaner fairly regularily and part of its process is to clear out all temporary internet files and cookies.
For a while I seemed to have problems posting. I might get as far as Preview, then would lose it before I could post. I tended to blame my wireless link which sometimes drops even though a right click shows a strong signal and usual speed, this seemed to be more frequent if I ran on battery power. Using repair would sort things but then refresh would have lost the post. I try to remember to do a control C of the whole post first in case I lose it. Seems to have been OK recently.DaveS wrote:

What have you iinstalled recently?
.
You can try clearing all your cookies Dave, but this may not work in this case. Try it anyway.
I suspect it is something on your machine. Have you installed anything recently, any browser extensions etc? The Google Accelerator can cause this problem.

Ash:
When I started this session several orange markers were there. I looked at one post and then found them all gone. I tried your idea of clicking on the "all posts since last...", but got the message:
No topics or posts met your search criteria
so something's clearly not behaving properly.
Nick:
The only significant recent change I can think of is that a few days ago I ejected Mr. Norton and loaded AVG.
I'm sure I should know this, but how do I clear cookies?
(This is the second go at posting this, after getting the "invalid session" message, closing, then re-opening the session.)

Cookies
In Internet Explorer, Tools - Internet Options - General - Delete Browsing Historyhow do I clear cookies?
The only thing in AVG that could possibly cause ptroblems is the AVG security toolbar - disable it if you have it switched on (right click browser toolbar and untick it)
Other thing to try is using Firefox to browse the forum.
