I was thinking of going but the forecast is looking unappealing with the prospect of at least a 10 hour beat back to base (Port Edgar) on Sunday and a SE swell coming into the harbour on Saturday. What are other east coasters thinking of doing if anything?

I'd guess that the other east-coasters weren't thinking of going.

Very perspicacious of you sir. That spelling doesn't look quite right does it?

Well we went for a daysail to Inchcolm in the pissing rain on Saturday morning and drifted back in the afternoon. The day was rather spoilt by listening to radio traffic concerning a fisherman whose boat had sunk under him off Leven.

Not going to Enster turned out a good decision as there was quite a brisk westerly on the Sunday and a gentleman should never sail to windward.

This chentleman sailed across to Kinghorn, from the mud capital, motored up to Inchcolm then did 5.5 kts with half a genoa on the way back. That was on Sunday. Rather alot of racer types around, decided that total avoidance was the best policy rather than a debate on the finer points of the colregs.

What a difference having the boat at the foot of the hill, handy or what? Still to be convinced by the Forth, does not appear to be many places to weekend, and remain afloat, but its going to be very useful for all those boaty jobs over the winter.

Even a 30 minute bus ride away is pretty damn good in my book. I agree about the limitations of the Forth as a cruising area. Dunbar and Eyemouth are really the only harbours East of Granton where you can lie afloat in any weather and it's an awful long way back up the river in a W wind. I wouldn't personally go further E than North Berwick if I had to be at work on Monday which I mostly do.
