A82 at Pulpit Rock, Loch Lomond

Post by ash »

It looks as though the traffic lights at Pulpit Rock might not be needed for too much longer - it's only taken 20 plus years.

More Info.

Work, high above the road, has been going on for the past few weeks but this could be on the railway.

This jack up barge was launched and assembled at Ardlui during w/e 1st June.

They're making test bores in the bed of the loch so may be considering building the road over the edge of the loch. There had been talk of a tunnel.

Missed most of the excitement of the barge launch. Ardlui were able to offload, and launch all the bits using the travel hoist, but a bigger crane had to be brought in to fit the legs. The max load/reach alarm was ringing as they fitted the outer legs. The legs have a 2.5 M section which remains under water, and I think that these must have stuck in the mud as the Ardlui work boat couldn't shift it. I believe that they had to bring a tug from the Clyde, and launch that. Fairly sure that Havenports were the barge supplier though it doesn't look the one in the website specs.
