My boat's for sale!
My boat's for sale!
Unfortunately family and work commitments have made it difficult to get enough time to justify the cost of keeping a boat .. so Glen Rosa is now up for sale. Suspect it will be 4 or 5 years before I'll be a boat owner again. Will I be allowed to contribute to boating forae or have I disbarred masell?

Looking back through my files I cannot see any reason why you should not be able to continue to contribute. You've never really made any significant boating contributions anyway so just keep oan wi the usual drivel and cack.
Naturally you have the use of Claymore should you wish. Re-launch date of April 09 is planned
Whit aboot a consortium buyin Glen Poser an keepin ye oan as the boatghillie?
Hoo mich wid ten shares cost?

Sorry to hear that . . .
.
Very sorry to hear that Jim, but you're not as old as some of the auld chentlemen on here so hopefully you'll still be fit for your next boat whenever you get her.
In the meantime, if you are up North any time and want to borrow Fairwinds for a few days you will always be very welcome if we are not using her.
(And if you find a holding tank aboard her you can keep it . . . )
Keep posting those hints and tips - there are more glittering prizes to be won.

I think you'll find that was in fact his response to the loan of the seagoing motor caravan you offered him m'lud . . . the wee rascal can tell a sailing vessel from a marinised Ford Transit apparently . . .Jim asked me to tell you that he'd rather have his buttocks amputated. varnished and sold in a rural craft shop

Sorry to hear that Jim, such a shame. I'm not sure we'd really want to know the full costs of keeping Shard, but at least our mooring costs are more reasonable than down south (not to speak of the much better sailing area imho). Up here it's also possible to avoid harbours and marinas in order to keep sailing within our budget, but I suppose the biggest difference for us is that we don't holiday elsewhere now (we previously chartered abroad and in Scotland).
You've got the mobile - Bev and yourself are very welcome to sail with us for a few days.

An offer you can refuse....
Jim,
I know exactly the issue, so am sorry you are having to sell the boat.
However, I would like to point out there will be an East Coast invitation in September to come and play for a weekend, and hope you would honour us with your presence.
More detail to follow, so dont give up on posting either or TOP.
PS - they are right, you rarely post on axshul boating stuff any more, its all enjoyable nevertheless.

You might be overstating the case just a tad there but a noble sentiment nonetheless.FullCircle wrote:..its all enjoyable nevertheless.
