Ipswich to Dover

Hello, new to the forum here - Just a quick question, I'm hoping to travel from Ipswich to Dover and then from Dover to Falmouth in June - has anyone travelled this course and if they have do they have any general tips, stories or advice on best course and navigational dangers etc?
