Battery to last a decade............

Fitted with my new pacemaker (my third) today, as a day patient at Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

My first was quite a chunky beast, and lasted 8 years. The one which has just been replaced was about 1/3 the volume of the first, but lasted 10 years. Advances in battery technology.

Not sure yet, but this one feels even smaller but I'm hoping it will last another 10 years at least.

Don't know what the battery technology is, must ask at my next outpatient appointment.

Mine you, my unit doesn't have to work very hard - continuous monitoring obviously, but only has to pace on an infrequent basis. A bit like a 'seame' in the middle of a large ocean.
