Just had the honour this afternoon of watching the launch of the great and good SILKIE.

All went smoothly - even the skipper. Unfortunately I did not have a camera with me to record this occasion.

You've been in for two days - do pay attention!

Fairwinds still has a reasonably lengthy pre-launch list including:

~Remount and rewire newly (expensively) repaired Aerogen
~Attach new masthead light fitting
~Paint boot top (Grace Darling is sending off to Inverness for green paint)
~Y10 the waterline if there is time
~Have another go at getting grease into shaft seal lipseal

Unfortunately I have been stricken down with a particularly hideous bout of manflu and we have to go to Aberdeenshnire this weekend for an octogenarian birthday party. We are hoping for some dry weather next week and in by the weekend.

Well in that case, I'll not call in to see you in the morning.....

Although we'd planned to take her to the mooring this weekend, we now are unexpectedly hosting a family weekend involving daughters, grandchildren, brother's family, and two elderly aunts. Which will be great fun, but needs a lot of work doing. So it looks like enough of a weather/tide window tomorrow. Will be in a rush though; sails and sprayhood to put up, check tensioning on stays and shrouds etc....

Any better yet Nick? We bumped into Mrs Webcraft at the Post Officethis morning, but didn't have enough time to comeround and see the patient.

Thinking there was going to be a stronish SWly we fiited the genny, sorted out the mast lights, and generally giving her a quick once over. Insufficient time for connecting the VHF and the wind speed/direction leads. Once outside the Cuan Sound, the wind dropped. I fitted the mainsail as we motored past Seil and Inch. Started to pick up a wee bit, but still just motoring with the genny. Might just run under sail soon as the breeze picks up, now being about two thirds up the west side of Kerrera.

Would have nice to have seen Silkie, but he'll be in Dunstaffnage by now. Hope your cold disappears soon..

Well, who's showing off posting from the boat then?

Dave arrived in Dunstaffnage just after lunch. Kathy picked him up and brought him back here for his car, then he was off back up to do a few wee jobs before driving home.

We are hoping to be in the water by next weekend . . . meantime, does anyone know a good use for mucus?

You missed the best of the wind Donald unless it did eventually pick up as forecast.

Hi Dave, yes we only got an hour and a bit of proper sailing, that is, if you can call a following wind "proper" sailing........ The rest was gently motoring with the genny up. So the batteries, the lanterns, the mobile, and the laptop are all nicely charged up. But it's not real sailing...

It did pick up to about F5/6 for a while - after we had moored, but it completely died again about an hour ago. A few wee jobs in the morning and then bus to Balvicar, changing at Oban, to pick up the wheels.

Hi Ash, yes, swinging mooring, so no rain coming under the sprayhood. Anyway, it's been dryish so far... Alas, no opportunity to sample Webcraft's medicine.

I'm confused - which isn't difficult or unusual. Is Shard answering on behalf of Silkie.
