My theory is that the unexplained lights in the sky are actually evidence of school projects. Future generations of school kids are looking at the central belt through a "time telescope" to see the Antonine Wall, the wars of independence, the Jacobite rebellion, the industrial revolution, the canal reopenings and the Falkirk Wheel.

It all makes perfect sense after sufficient drink is consumed.
