Tutorial for thickies?

Post by aquaplane »

Is there an idiots guide on how to make links and stuff?

Heyup, I just noticed loads of little boxes up there that look like the biz, I'm off to see if I can muddle my way through.

There isn't a guide as such but as you've presumably seen if you hover over the "little boxes" they show you the required format. If you highlight your url and click the box the url will be surrounded by the appropriate on/off strings. Alternatively, without any highlighted text the the first time you click a box it will insert the "on" string while clicking it the second time will insert the "off" string.

Previewing your post will show whether you've managed to get the pic to display or the url to be clickable etc. Just ask if there's anything specific you can't figure out.

If you go to an existing post with links and stuff, and press the 'quote' button in the top right of the post, it will let you see the results of the 'little boxes' - compare to your results to see where (if) you're going wrong.

Thankyou gentlemen, I do know a bit of HTML, I had my own site for a while so I got fairly proficient.

It's the square brackets that fox me, I had to put my thinking turnip on to work out how to get some anchor text in there too, but it's reasonably intuitive.

I put a few links to lifejackets in that discussion on what to get for the grandkid,

Making a pic a link could be interesting but I'll work it out when I want to do it or I'll forget.

It is fairly straightforward as you say. It has to be, really, for poor old Claymore.
