Advice required, important but not boaty

Post by Ocklepoint »

I'm going to be in the Kilmartin/Ardfern area next weekend with SWMBO on wedding anniversary business.

Where around there does the best lunch?

Thanks.

try the galley of lorne at ardfern, some might recommend the crinan hotel, others might not :)

SWMBO and I usually treat ourselves to a 2 night deal at The Cairnbann Hotel at some point during the winter.

We've never tried lunch, but the dinner (and breakfast) has always been excellent. You can eat either in the bar, or the restaurant.

I'm not in a position to say whether this is the best in the area. Claymore might be your man.

The Crinan hotel for me . . .

.
We have always had a wonderful lunch at the Crinan Hotel.

I can particularly recommend the scallops or the seafood stew (both about £14 - it's not the cheapest lunch, but it is quality)

It's a bit out of the way if travelling by land, but I have eaten very well at the Tayvallich Inn. I'm still trying to get the pronunciation right though.

Or you could try the Loch Melfort Hotel (standard fare but ok) followed by a romantic tryst under the foliage in the adjacent Arduaine Gardens...

Unfortunately it's probably a bit too early for cauliflower cheese in Kilmelford
