Failed Anchor Chain - Gael Force Marine

Post by BlowingOldBoots »

Interesting post on FB Sailing Cruising Scotland

https://www.facebook.com/share/p/sgK8Ha ... 1AY/?about new chain where links have split open.
… number of welds have failed on a <2 year old anchor chain. Manufacturing defects from a wonky batch of ISO certified chain.

A call to Gael Force Marine Inverness (where the chain was purchased) at 4pm Monday explaining the issue. Tuesday morning get a call saying their Quality team are on it both with their supplier and also they will contact all customers who bought from the same batch as I did.

… if you bought anchor chain from Gaelforce around October 2022, you may wish to give it close inspection!
The pictures on FB show chain split cleanly through the weld on the link, in this case multiple links.
What's that? Dunno! Should we be worried about that? Dunno! How? Ah dunno!
