Here we go again

Post by marisca »

When the ex-wife of Charlie died the whole country came to a shuddering halt with events cancelled and any attempt at maintaining normal life somehow unpatriotic and almost blaphemous. This pm BBC1 has gone into full death mode for Lizzie - what they are going to do if she rallies, who knows - with talking heads with even a faint tinge of "royal" in their CV being wheeled out. I cannot help but fear the likely behaviour of the population, you know the thick ones who voted Tory for Boris and Brexit - when she finally shakes off her mortal coil. The woman is in her nineties, I've never met her, her impact on me has been slight inconvenience with traffic for her garden parties and not much else. I am not going to go full ashes and sackcloth and I advise anyone who disagrees to stay away from me.

easy programming for the Beeb and cheap too. Similarly jingoistic journalism from the red tops, all distracting the masses from the real issues and giving politicians some respite from the limelight.

definitely a well coordinated plan. Thursday a good day for news like this and 6:30pm a good time, both limiting the economic impact on the country, allowing some initial reactions (Friday) and then a pause during the weekend.

I had no ill will for QE1 (for Scotland)/ QE2 of England. She kept her personal opinions to herself and I think genuinely tried to serve the nation. Don't think KC the 3rd will manage as well as she did it.
