Back Home!

Post by Aja »

Well that's the cruise for 2021 over. Arrived back at Tighnabruaich yesterday after five weeks away, one with the grandkids and one with elder daughter and partner.

Lots of jumping in off the boat, laughs and one of two brilliant sails.

Plenty days too of overcast windless days spent burning diesel, but overall it was one of these summers in the Hebrides that happens only once in twenty years.

Only a couple of new anchorages but marveled at the number that have reduced in size due to moorings or pontoons.

Amazing number of boats from the south. I've never seen so many Oysters and other class boats (Rustler 36s/42s HRs et al) that have top of the range equipment.

Although we mostly ate on board when we did eat ashore it was normal to book, turning up on spec wasn't always a guarantee of a table.

Just over a thousand miles on the log, and Sheena and I are still on speaking terms 😁

We didn't!

Dropped off eldest daughter and partner in Oban last Thursday who came up for a couple days and looking at the then forecast took cold feet and made a dash from Oban to Campbeltown on the Friday and then up to Tighnabruaich on the Saturday.

Forecast strong wind didn't come. Felt a bit silly afterwards but after 5 weeks away once the decision was made it was good to get back.

Summer Isles (Tanera Mor) a big disappointment. We've tried in the past to get there and find that it is a industrial estate.

Might make NI yet.....
