Churchton Bay, Raasay sunken moorings
Nice spot anchored off the beach. Can see the distillery and Raasay House from here. Came in at high water and dropped the hook right on the Antares anchor symbol. As the tide dropped I became aware of a small buoy surfacing just off the stern. I can see two more much closer in near where visitor moorings are marked. These might be marker buoys for the risers if they reinstate actual moorings here, but the one near me is a hazard. I'll ask ashore today what the story is with them, but be careful if anchoring here and maybe stay a bit towards the west, nearer the ferry pier.

Nobody ashore any the wiser about the moorings. The distillery is well worth a visit as is Raasay House - very reasonably priced lunch. Dinner menu looks very good but obviously pricier. Both are a 5 min stroll from the beach for a pleasant day ashore.

Anchored where you suggested and a bit further out at LW.
Saw one yellow bouy. Ashore for a very nice gin and tonic at the distillery.
On raising anchor it was converted in weed - both kelp and that lettuce type. There was a bit of mud/sand on the anchor but not much.
Plockton tonight.

I think we may have seen the same buoy. We were to the East of the ferry pier, no other moorings about.Burst Boiler wrote: ↑Wed Jul 21, 2021 9:43 am Nice spot anchored off the beach. As far as I remember it was a good bottom with not much weed. Whatever, used the CQR on all rope rode and didn't move, but it wasn't windy.
Seminole.
Cheers Bob.
