I'm still in the water
(I hope) but I'm not getting much sailing in for various reasons and with a 50 kt northerly forecast for tomorrow (and having already lost a fairlead) I'm beginning to think it was a mistake to stay afloat so late in the year.

Dinna fash yersel' man . . .
Fairwinds survived the 'hurricane' of Jan 12th . . . but she was on a swinging mooring, which I reckon is a much better bet in bad weather.

Thanks for that
I think a swinging mooring would be better too but I'm on a pontoon!
It doesn't look as if it's been quite as bad as forecast, although currently blowing northerly 40 gusting 55 at Tiree. I'll call Merry Monster tomorrow and see how things are.

He's overwintering at Dunstaffnage - very reasonable rates apparently!
I knew him when he ran the local car parts shop in Penicuik (he donated a couple of wee bits for Silkie) so we had quite a reunion when we met up after quiz night at the T'n'T! Didn't manage any sailing that weekend.

Thanks for the offer but I'm sure speaking to Bob will suffice.Nick wrote:I'll drive up and take a look tomorrow if you are worried.

What a nice man
Sent me a text to say that Silkie is fine. I 'phoned him back and it appears that there was no significant damage and although one or two boats broke one or two ropes nothing actually escaped.
