Rocks Don't Move ........

...... but they get bigger.

I have a full portfolio of charts for the West Coast and decided to update them; about a 1/3 of the way through. I am amazed at the number of rocks that have been added at various close to shore locations. Twenty meters deep, delete that, add in 2.2m and circle with 5m contour. Then there are the fish farms, always getting bigger or new ones added; only deletions are the old lines replaced by the longer boundaries. Quite a few lights going with no replacement and lots of buoys being moved and added, quite few large mooring buoys being added. Eyes are wonky now!

Folks need to stop sending in depth corrections in areas where no one will really go and everyone is using a plotter anyway. Chart 2525 Loch Gairloch, Loch Kishorn and Loch Carron, over 70 ridiculous changes to depths, all shallower than previous and many in areas where you would be proceeding with caution anyway. Harumph, I am now needing a stronger reading glasses prescription and sanity tablets. It has become a battle of wills between me who likes doing this stuff and me who hates doing the pointless stuff.

Anyway, the NTMs 1651(P) 2456(P) are preliminary, so will be included on the next chart edition. More very big mooring buoys added.

Mr Bradfield, asv Harry, I am talking to you both (-; And what is an asv: autonomous surface vessel, auxiliary sailing vessel?
