Oh good grief if I put one more thing in a safe place. . .

Post by Nick »

.
As some of you know I have been (among other insanities involved with owning a very neglected Morgan GIles 30) building a Navik from bits. Having acquired two top sections and no bottom section I thought at least the problem of losing teh jointed connector was not an issue because I now had 2 (plus the one on Fairwinds).

These were until quite recently in the wee clippy box of electrical spares, under the control panel. I vaguely remember moving them to a safer place, possibly as littel as a wekk or so ago.

Now they are missing.

I hate safe places.

A few years ago I lost a bottle of Tobermory's finest malt for several months on my luxuryless 22footer. It hasn't happened since but it's unlikely to mean that my memory is improving.

Sure it wasn't your memory you lost, and the empty bottle had gone overboard? :)

There can be no safer place than between ones knees. This is what I thought when I placed the allen key between my knees as I kneeled on the garage floor working on my BMW's boxer engine tappets. A few seconds later, when I went to retrieve the alien key, it was not there. No amount of careful looking could find it. I left the garage somewhat perplexed and a bit worried, had some tea and toast, went back to the garage and the allen key was right where it was supposed to be. At that time, I lived in a remote farm house and LadyOldBoots worked night shift at the hospital; no one but me at home.

There is a small highly mobile pocket of hyperspace that follows me around and produces exactly this effect. I put somethign down, look away for a second and it is gone. Hours later, it reappears, usually when I have either given up, bought a replacement on Ebay or gone to the pub.

It's always worth going back to check that you didn't leave it in the pub.
