Crinan Canal Closed
Crinan Canal Closed
The top gate at Lock 14 failed yesterday 01/07/2017 and it seems that it may take some time to repair or replace it, estimates vary but it sounds as if it might be at least a week. Fortunately conditions at the MoK seem relatively benign just now, Gigha will be busy.

Re: Crinan Canal Closed
Jungle drums say it's open again, but fir how long?
Gigha was about half full when I left early this morning.
It was wet and windy from the west. A bit breezy at 25/27 knots but I was heading north.

Re: Crinan Canal Closed
I was up there this afternoon shortly after it re-opened, they had a diver check it and he is reported to have said the gate was fine to use so the canal will be functioning normally tomorrow. Last week we moved Corona to the wrong side of 14 as in the basin it was getting covered in soot from the Vic so I was expecting to have to bring it back to Ardrishaig to escape. An RAF HR that went up yesterday, came back this morning and went back up again this afternoon, they will have had a good work out but they looked young and fit.
Hope my post did not cause too many delays or diversions.
