I and a mate are heading to the Smoke on Thursday to visit the Boat Show though apparently our bus passes don't work down there. No particular reason for going - just nosiness and free tickets - so if any of you want questions answered, information, or just to know if the Guinness is as good as Earl's Court then commission me to find out. And, no, I'm not carrying anything heavier than a magazine (or liquids) back for you!

Finally, it's past 12th night - turn the fecking snow, santas, reindeer etc. off !!

I'd be interested to know if you see any display stands selling anchors. Which ones? Any doing only anchors?

I'm more wanting to see what competitors do, I'm in the anchor business now (as well as whatever I pretended to do previously), so keen to see what is effective in the boatshow market.

I was there on the final weekend. What did you think marisca? I was on the hunt for some technical clothing and managed to find a good deal on a jacket from Marine Super Store. I went once before many years ago - it has certainly come along way since then!

Was meant to be there for the Thursday only but a snowflake (I really hate inappropriate snowflakes, Nick) fell on London and Flybe cancelled our plane. After a night in an uncontrollable sauna masquerading as an Ibis hotel room I went back on the Friday. Guinness wasn't brilliant; a French mob were trying to sell crates of Bordeaux (a bit young) but under its influence I bought a wheen of shirts for the crew from a nice young lady; decided I couldn't afford a new engine though there was a fine range of colours available; wandered on board a variety of AWBs and reluctantly have to admit the Bavarias were the least bad; bought antifoul; drank gin on the Princess mobo stand sponsors of my visit (thanks Pete and Craig); took a picture of the Rocna stand for Geoff - nothing exciting; got thrown off the Sail Scotland stand for trying to discourage visitors to the west coast; watched nubile young ladies gyrating to music; and chatted to a lot of sales people who appeared to enjoy having someone to talk to and to a man claimed Southampton was way better. Place was really too quiet compared with my memories with only about 2/3 of the hall properly occupied. Even had time to visit the Holiday show (much better freebies!) in the hall across the way.
I don't think I'll be bothering again for a year or five.

Yes, that is something you should know about, at least I'm keen that you do know about. Amongst other things I'm now MD of that company, but I don't want to presume on Nicks generosity too much and claim free advertising by way of the forum. But here's a tip... There's a website of the same name where you can order, and I might even deliver personally! But you can get a discount by joining a facebook group called Sailing and Cruising Scotland and following instructions there for obtaining it. I've used one for 2 years. They work!
