Promotion, Lifestyle and Age

An elderly gent of my acquaintance has undergone a promotion. This has resulted in severe adverse changes to the hircine lifestyle .. resulting in no boating for a season and thus no log and thus no Mandy .. how can my ancient caprine pal rectify the situation and recover his joie de vivre?
