Tough Decision
Dear Heart and I live in pleasant but modest quarters.
The offspring lives in Denmark and as is the wont of their generation - has not been particularly effective in moving all her stuff out there with her.
A conference that I normally attend has been shifted to the middle of July thus stuffing my opportunity to offer my services as Finish Boat for the Tobermory race.
A recent promotion has left me with an increased salary and a reduction in annual leave
I'm hiring a van and taking the offspring's furniture to be reunited with its owner.
Claymore will not be launched in 2008.

Re: Tough Decision
i trucked some of our offspring's furniture to Devon recently which had some paticularly hardy Dundee woodworm in it (the wee beasties home in on unused furniture and like it a bit damp) and i noted on a recent visit that they seemed to have a lot of firewood. Have you warned DEFRA (there has to be somebody in our gov who needs to know this) that you might be exporting wildlife?claymore wrote:I'm hiring a van and taking the offspring's furniture to be reunited with its owner.

Dear Heart, as you might expect is something of a slave tae the Cuprinol 5 star woodworm an ither beastie treatment and is often tae be found wi her mask and brush, tickling a mitre here, a filigree there. Indeed sometimes it pays one tae keep moving around otherwise you could well get a squirt yerself. It is this activity that gives me every confidence to report that nae beasties will be travelling over the sea tae skeyn. (Skagen)
Anyways ye miserable auld trouser python, youse were supposed tae sae - "Jings, Rupert - thon's a desperate sityashin an wid yae like tae spend a weekend wi masel and ra fair hedgehog hunter, whit dae ye hae in June?"

If ye were short o' crew, ah' cud mibbie come wi' ye! Noo, ye dinnae get an offer lik that ivery day.
Gi' it some serious consideeration

Oh! dear, my idea of the flinty eyed, granite jawed Northern members staring into icy spray sweeping the foredeck is shattered...Denmark! Devon! What?
This conversation took place in the Sunny South 10 years ago..
"You two need to move your belongings"
In unison.."Why Dad?"
"I'm selling the house"
"We'll help you move, we can shift our stuff too"
" I'm going to live permanently on my boat"
Chorus..."WHAT?.. but our stuff Dad we've got nowhere to keep it"
Me... "Look in yellow pages"
Offspring "What for?"
"Get me the number of the Oxfam shop"....
House was empty when I sold it...mind you I have found some letters addressed to my offspring which mention, Compulsory committal, senility and something about proceedings..does the board think I should be worried??

Alas, the ringing sound of claymores clashing in the Clyde will now not be heard. Hopefully next year. No excuses for an unfinished "list" then...l

Tobermory race disaster
Thats very sad you will not get the use of your boat this year.
Does it mean the Tobermory race will not finish? I have been on a couple that seemed like they were never going to finish, I remember anchoring in the bay near midnight one time Not having a finish to the race may add some extra spice, but if others sail like we do, then I predict a group of boats sailing circles on the tuesday morning looking for any boat that "might" be the committee, and reading racing instructions backwards to determine were the line is so we can record our time .

Oh dear . . .
Work - the curse of the sailing classes!recent promotion has left me with an increased salary and a reduction in annual leave
I guess the TCT is buggered this year - its unlikely to be awarded for a road trip to a minor Scandinavian country.

Jeez, the lengths some people will go to to avoid buying me a drink!
e mailing something inappropriate to a female colleague should result in more sailing time being available.
