I made my last post in the Lounge today, and feel cleaner already. If you see me in there just shoot me please.

I tried that when it first opened, but found myself getting dragged in from time to time. I have been trying to keep out of it too, in fact TOP in general.

So I will shoot you if you will reciprocate for the same reason.

The more i read in the lounge the less time i have for my fellow man, what a bunch of shits there are in there !

I stopped posting on those forums quite awhile ago, got fed up with sneering, before i started reading ybw i didnt realise there was so much bad feeling by some about sail and motor, it doesnt happen in my part of the country, we are all boat owners an mix together.

There are several owners in ybw forums who's boats i reconise in my travels, but would i bother approaching them to say hello ...no way, and no doubt they would be just as pleased not to see me..

I used to enjoy the banter on TOP, because that's what it was, banter. We could have a bit of a go with Scots/English Etc., and nobody took ofence, nor was any meant.

Lately it has just become completely intollerable, and although I do still visit occasionally, it is becoming less and less.

The posters on here seem much more civilised, and I'm sure that I'm not alone in that, going by the number of other defectors on here.

Cheers
Jim

I think my computer must be accessing a different YBW forum. Yes, there are drunken, aggressive and sneering posts, but not that many on the threads I choose to read & reply to. I find it easy to ignore the bad stuff - it says more about the poster than about the person/ idea villified. I make this point frequently, but people still choose to reveal their ignorance, intolerance and ineptitude.

Never in this world will you find two people that fully agree so what's the chances for several thousand? Live & let live, why let people with a different outlook on life spoil yours?

I think the difference is the lack of decent moderation to restrain the more uninhibited aggressive, racist and homophobic posts.

That figures, they were the threads I chose to ignore. Why bother to read the drivel? You wouldn't buy the Sunday Sport would you?

Not always that easy, at least the Sunday Sport has the correct title on it. I don't mind a bit of fun so I've had a laugh with people I know on the East coast, but even I have found some of what's been going on in the lounge a bit OTT over the past few days.

It would seem you managed to upset a few people in there.

I have just cancelled my pbo subs on the back of the forum, there was no way to say this on the cancellation so I have e-mailed them. One subs wont make a jot of difference, except to my well being, it has truly become a crap coffee table monthly since Sarah the stupid took over!

She once wrote an editorial about the trouble she was having finding a man to service her outboard... in PBO ferchrisakes.

Yet again enticed over to TOP; and now in desperate need of DDT! Can we call and end to these posts, I want happy posts. So I will announce this as my last negative post, from now on positive and helpful posts only, you may see my post count fall to one per month mind

I wonder if this forum is more attuned to Sailing Today, a far more interesting and adult read, they treat us as though we actually know how to drive a boat, which is a start!

Its self destructing IMHO..... the recent spates of really quite vitriolic posts have put yet a further nail in the coffin.... in the days of Kim and then Keith, the posts wouldn't have survived 10 mins before being deleted.... its killing the forum slowly....

They'll regret it big time in the long run.....

Still, at least we have this corner of sanity to retreat to!

Interesting comments. I've missed a lot of it by being selective of which posts I read, but . . . is anyone pressing the "Call Moderator" button?

My dealings with Richard Shead (Marketing) have shown him to be an honest & reliable bloke. I wonder if he knows what the fora are doing to his magazine?

Is YBW good for IPC then?

I have wondered about that. For me it has definitely made me less likely to buy the mags as it is so easy to put a post up and get loads of relevant information within a few minutes, while as a social club it is beginning to show the strain.

It is perhaps a victim of its own success. At least they made one good decision when they made the lounge viewable by members only.
