Unstayed carbon fibre mast

I'm looking at the purchase of a blue water boat. 60 ft overall. it used to have an aero rig and still uses the 70 ft unstayed carbon mast for sloop rig.
Main is on large furlboom, fore is roller.
Such a mast is unknown to me. All comments and advice welcome.
