I saw a really neat tip somewhere else about holding synthetic bearings in place when reassembling eg furling gear. I use grease for steel bearings, but you can use shaving foam for plastic ones

...but Shaving Gel. Much stickier, and washes off just as well.
Flavour of gel is irrelevant I find, but if its Hai Karate, dont do it while the missus is about, or you will lose yer trews.

If I used Lynx gel, would my boat suddenly be able to do 45kn and make a big wash? And would the crew suddenly look extremely attractive and be willing to do anything??

Good idea
Unfortunately of little help since I have a beard
So thats my bearings up the creek - not for the first time.
Still
I don't think there are any bits new enough to have synthetic bearings.

Not to mention the great smell of Brut. Surely you wouldn't cast nasturtiums on our 'Enery's sexual orientation?
