A Regular Event Ignored

Post by BlowingOldBoots »

Well, it appears that the passing of the winter solstice is no longer worth a mention.

Here's to a splendid, virile spring and a stunning summer of satisfaction.
What's that? Dunno! Should we be worried about that? Dunno! How? Ah dunno!

I was waiting till later this evening to note the solstice, once I'd finished my bacchanalian excesses - it's a bit chilly for naked maidens. I'm sure Claymore will be along soon to chastise you for your temerity.

I always think that the winter solstice is a bit of a cruel joke because the mornings get darker for a further 10 days or so. I used to particularly hate returning to work on the early 07.50 train on the 3rd of January and noticed in these days that the time of sunrise didn't get back to what it was on the solstice until the 2nd week of January. Mind you I did notice this year that the sunset is already getting later and is now nealry 10 minutes later than on the day of earliest sunset (around December 11th.)
