FORUM SOFTWARE UPDATED

Post by Nick »

.
The forum has been updated to the latest software version. It has also been updated to a newer (non-deprecated) PHP version, and https:// protocol has been implemented.

I have done this because two users have now been unable to reset their password and have instead set up new user accounts. This should prevent this happening again.

(And also because it is a slow Sunday and I have got bored with trying to level up in Moonshades)

Thank you, appreciated.

In my working life I have had to get involved in Industrial Automation and Control Systems (IACS) aka cyber security. We are finding a whole load of safety critical systems that are still running on Windows XP, which is no longer supported. OEMs for this equipment have issued alerts and implemented up to date operating systems, but owners don't address the alert.

My employer, with contractor's permission, had an agency look for weaknesses in a vessel dynamic positioning system. The agency easily accessed controls and could have steered the vessel, powered up engines and lock out control stations on the vessel. They could achieve this because there was a live stream of data from a monitoring system transmitting onshore, that no one knew about and had no protection protocols applied.

Also, recently I was notified by a company that I use to get work visas, my passport details and DOB have been stolen from their agency through a cyber security breach, but a search of the dark web has not revealed use of my data. I am reassured!
What's that? Dunno! Should we be worried about that? Dunno! How? Ah dunno!
