Post edit timeout

Post by Nick »

.
Due to recent attempts to edit history I have decided to introduce a mod that will limit the time a user's post can be edited.

The time is currently restricted to one hour.

Now I need a volunteer to test this - Silkie and I can't as it doesn't apply to moderators or admins.

An hour? Luxury, on another forum I'm on ( dating ) we only have 15 mins. Having said that, 15 mins is enough to do any typos and add a bit you had forgotten.

And it's more than enough for the trols to post and edit.

edit, i forgot to ask if you want me to test this?

another edit, I'll be buggered if I'm stopping up till half past yesterday to test it fully.
Seminole.

Yes, please test it and report any oddities or if it doesn't work - there was a lot of code crunching and I may have missed something.

(Tomorrow will do though :) )

That might explain why Machurley22 is logged on after a very long absence. :evilgrin

Edit MacH has sunk out of sight.

BTW - I thought that the complaint was that it was yersel and TAASC who were doing the editing !!!

Edit 2 - 30 minutes, and I can still edit.

Rushing around his old posts, adding complimentary remarks about her sister ship Silkie and her fine skipper.!!

Despite the fact I was going to have a reasonable night in me pit, I stayed up speshul and I couldn't edit my last post at 00:47 so it looks like the 60 min jobbie is working

Edit time limit

. . . works a treat. Thanks Aquaplane for staying up past your bedtime to test it.

Do you think 60min is a reasonable compromise time-wise?

That was just a smokescreen. Trust nothing you hear and only half of what you see - where tcm is concerned anyway. :)

An hour is ample, I think it is anyway. If folk forget to put somat or want to address a subsequent post they can always post again.

There isn't a 2 in 10 rule or owt like that to stop 2 folk using a thread as a chat room is there?
